The Safe Secret is a Mystery game that I made for my Graduate Thesis on improving player agency in Detective Video Games. You play as a boy, whose parents have hidden a secret from him all his life in a safe. The game requires the player to collect information, conduct interrogations and use items to find a way to open the safe.

I was responsible for designing and developing all the systems, the scripting and Technical Design for the project.
All assets are from the POLYGON- TOWN PACK in the Unreal Marketplace. Sounds from freesound.org. Animations from Mixamo.
The playable prototype is available on itch.io.
Overview
There are three main systems in the Safe Secret that the gameplay revolves around:
Branching Dialogue System
Info Collection System
Inventory System
These three systems are designed to work together to give the player more freedom and agency to investigate and solve the mystery in their own way.
